i may vomit

Here are the picks of my poor baby... not sure HOW we're gonna dig her out, but hopefully it'll happen tomorrow so she can get towed in to the shop! I'm pretty sure i'm still in shock about it, cuz i'm in pretty good spirits still... although it is surreal to look out our back window and just see a mound of snow and wood where the cars should be!

Fucking snow.

that's all i have to say right now.

It's not too late...

Christmas may be over, but you can still get your very own Princess Unicorn! That's right folks, this incredible doll, brought to you by the genius that is the writers of The Office, has her own website! Too funny.

Her background story: "Sorcerissa, the evil witch, cast a spell on Princess Unicorn's parents (her dad is King of the Unicorns and mom is Queen of the Princesses), forcing them into another dimension, and doused Princess Unicorn in radiation. The radiation did not hurt Princess Unicorn, but gave her magical powers. She can summon her magic by holding her wand and calling out 'My horn can pierce the sky!' Now she uses her magic and beauty to write for her school paper, defend her kingdom, and battle Sorcerissa."

happy happy!

My little baby bro turns 26 today! I can't believe it. Tony (or, if you prefer, Pooh Bear, Holmes, Tonsy, Holmsy Pooh, Fred, etc) is a pretty awesome guy. Even if he did move across the country and has a "5 year plan" to fulfill before he'll consider coming home. I am so proud of you Pooh - you are becoming quite the little businessman, fixing broken CarQuest stores like nobody's business and impressing everyone you work with by showing them what you can do! In just 2 short years you've run 2 different stores and done regional sales across VA and Maryland, pretty impressive - you'll be the District Manager before you know it!
But on top of all that you are hilarious, kind (usually), love our crazy ass dogs, occasionally call your sister or mother when you are bored and stuck in DC traffic, kick butt at Guitar Hero (from what I hear), always claim you will quit smoking soon (we'll see...), and know that home is back here in Washington even if you can't come back quite yet. Love you brother!

Finally...

After what looks to be at LEAST 2 feet of snow, it is finally letting up! I was hoping for a winter wonderland, but this is ridiculous!!! i took pics which i'll upload eventually. and hopefully the plows work hard tonight, cuz we need to mail Christmas presents to VA stat! It is pretty outside though, so i'll give it that.

Still need that perfect gift?

Just read about this:

Burger King has released its own scent, called FLAME, and it comes with "the hint of flame-broiled meat."

I'm fairly certain the only thing FLAME would attract would be stray alley cats or hungry homeless people...

If you dare to try it, the fragrance is available for a limited time for $3.99 at www.firemeetsdesire.com.

And I LOVE this picture.

greatest. line. ever.

Pia and I are sitting at home watching "What Not To Wear," when the lady being criticized for her fashion sense and the horrible pants she is wearing says - and I quote - "I didn't buy those pants, Bill's [her husband] first wife left them behind when she left." Um, WHAT?!?! This is the funniest thing I've ever heard, this lady actually wearing her husband's ex-wife's cast-off clothing! Love this show. And I want to be Stacy and Clinton's BFF. Please?

HURRAY!

It's snowing! It's snowing! I'm excited, we're supposed to get somewhere between 3 and 12" over the weekend. Finally! :) Maybe now Mt Spokane will be open sometime before the New Year and I can go skiing.

Sorry for the lack of blogging. I've been up to nothing exciting... The highlight of my week was winning Trivia Night at the Blue Spark this week with 4 of my friends - we totally cheated on the last round and it was so worth it, we each won about $8 LOL! :) No shame, and yes these friends were mostly all church camp friends... we cheat anyways.

Bring em home Week 8

This is the new Snoqualmie Casino - at 170,000 square feet, with 1700 slot machines and 50 table games, it is Washington's largest and newest casino! Luxurious and beautiful, plus you can still smoke inside. We've also got Northern Quest (your all-time favorite), Coeur d'Alene Casino, Two Rivers, Tulalip, Muckleshoot, the Emerald Queen and many more we've never gotten to explore....

Vegas has nothing on WA! And all you have is shitty Charles Town - which means not only do you have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get there but it is in WEST VIRGINIA. Ugh.

Just come home already.

So much...

To be thankful for!

On this eve of Thanksgiving, I just wanted to give a brief shout-out to my loved ones and not-so-loved ones. It has been a wonderful year, full of adventure, love and laughter and I am so very thankful for all of it. This year I have done and seen so much:
  • lived in Seattle, Los Angeles, on the Lake, and back in Spokane;
  • road-tripped with both my amazing mother and dear friend Michelle;
  • visited (all too briefly) with my East Coast family whom I miss way too much every day and cannot wait until we are all back together;
  • reconnected with God, friends and family in my absolute favorite place on earth Camp Cross;
  • reconnected with my BFF Sara who I miss calling and forcing to hang out with me when I was bored at my (and then her) apartment in LA;
  • learned more about what it means to me to be a servant to others and how fulfilling that can be;
  • moved in with my sister - even if it was somewhat reluctantly on my part, i have loved almost every minute of it so far;
  • continued to learn and grow as a Nurse, earned my OCN, and have been so blessed to absolutely 100% love what i am doing every day, knowing how important and meaningful my work can be to those i take care of;
  • continued to strengthen the friendships that mean the most to me - i am happy to say there are too many to list that are important to me, but you all know who you are;
I think it is safe to say that I have so much to be thankful for this year, and my life is overflowing with laughter (is there any better gift?) and love right now! I hope that all of you can say the same and that this next year brings us all even more adventure, happiness and beauty!

7 Weeks Already?!! Just Come Home!

To further entice and/or educate you, Cara and Tony, here are some interesting facts about Spokane so you can remember why it is so great to live here!

  • It's the sunny side of the state
  • Spokane means "Children of the Sun" in the local native language
  • Founded in 1872 as Spokan Falls
  • Hosted the 1974 World's Fair
  • Created "Bloomsday," the largest timed running race in the nation
  • Hosts "Hoopfest," the planet's largest three-on-three basketball tournament
  • Features the "Hot Zone," free outdoor wireless internet in a 100 block downtown area
  • Childhood home of Bing Crosby
  • Started Father's Day (WHO KNEW?!)
  • Home to four universities

Twilight!

Well, Pia and I went with a bunch of other girls and saw "Twilight" this weekend... So I figured I'd write about that since I did nothing else except work and clean the house this week.

Overall, it was much better than I was expecting - I was kinda figuring it was going to be wretched, since I had such a soft spot in my heart for the book and it was made on the cheap with basically no-name actors and director. But it turned out to be funny (perhaps unintentionally at times, but that was okay with me), cheesy, sweet, and a much better-paced story than in the book which was good... They changed quite a bit of the rhythm of the story which was much-needed. So I'd give it a thumbs-up and will probably see it again... And the boys are all ridiculously hot (even if the guy playing Jasper - one of the vamps - looked like he was either trying not to cry or take a dump the whole time)... :)

Week 6 - Come on, already!

For week 6, I present:

Things You Could Have Been Doing, But Instead Have Missed Out On Whilst Living In Virginia:

#1: Skiing at Mt Spokane... Which I plan to do plenty of this winter. Remember, the highest mountain peak in VA is Mt Rogers at a paltry 5700 feet, while Mt Rainier stands an impressive 14,410 feet.

#2: Catching up with friends (aka just having friends within a 500-mile radius) - Pictured below are Lizzy and Buffy catching up with Pia at the SG Hall of Fame dinner, which you missed.

#3: Water sports! As you are aware, Virginia lakes contain creep fish that nibble on you while you are trying to take an innocent dip, while Washington lakes have no such thing - and if anyone would know, it's me! ;)

#4: Hanging out with Mimi. 'Nuff said.

#5: Fun things like watching Sexy Becks play with Real Madrid

#6: A combo: Mariners games (even though they were SO wretched this year, the games are usually still fun) and watching the babies growing up WAY too fast!

Bring Em Home, week 4.5

Well, so far no budging on the "Get Cara and/or Tony Home Sometime in the Near Future" Campaign. I just don't get it. Virginia has little too offer, and all their favorite people live here. So, I present Campaign Week 4.5: What Do We Have Here?

To start, let's see what Cara & Tony have to look forward to every day in beautiful Northern Virginia:

Exhibit A: This is what Cara and Tony do every day when they aren't at work: Lay on the couch with the dogs (if Patty's not home) smoking... Boo.

Exhibit B: This is what comes up when you Google "DC Traffic" - something Tony sits through at least 3 times a week getting to/from Maryland, and something Cara no longer sits through only because she refuses to leave the confines of Fredericksburg. :O

I googled "toothless and Virginia" and about 90 pics came up like this. J/K, but honestly, this is what 90% of the residents of Bealeton (where Tony's old CarQuest store was) look like...

A Google Earth pic of the housing development they live in - all the houses look alike, it is brown and boring.

And now, here is what WE offer in the beautiful Pacific NW:

When I Google "Spokane Traffic" it took like 3 pages to find any good pics, cuz we don't HAVE any traffic. But this is pretty...

When Cara is around us, she goes out and has adventures! Like flying to LA despite her crippling fears, going to the Dodgers games and the beach and World's Biggest Flea Market...

FAMILY! FAMILY! FAMILY! There are a LOT of us here, only 4 of you there!

Um, hello! We get snow, and it looks like this: (This is the Little Spokane river on the St George's campus where we all went to school)...

A GoogleEarth image of where WE live... see rivers, green trees, HILLS, and the housing developments are all out in the Valley so the houses here are cute and unique!

Okay, Okay!

Finally something to blog about! And I found the camera charger but now can't find my camera (boo!) so I stole these pics from Pia's facebook...

To mark the simultaneous and equally monumental occasions of Pia and I moving into our apt and Election Night, I decided it would be a great un-packing motivator to have a little get-together! So I invited the gang over for an evening of huddling 'round the Mac to watch CNN's live feed (no cable yet) and Wii playing (cuz MarioKart is effing awesome and I rule at Wii Tennis)!

Here is some of us watching Barack's acceptance speech on the computer! :) Yay!

Laura, Peter, Peter (notice the sweet W shirt, it says "danger") and Kaitrin

me, Keaton and Pia (I'm wearing my "Bill for First Lady" shirt in honor of what might have been...)

Chase looking kinda douchey (per usual)

Michaela shows off her sweet Wii Bowling form

Pia and Michelle argue the merits of Dino vs Christine (obvs, the less-crazy candidate won there)

Pia, Tara, Laura and Michelle pour over some crazy old Camp pictures

watching some more Election coverage

McCain admits he's a big loser (mainly cuz he chose Crazy Palin for a running mate) and I decide I can't watch anymore... Hey at least we don't have to look at neck wrinkles for the next 4 years! Woot!

Moving on up...

Pia and I are (more or less) totally moved into our new place! I am stealing internet, surrounded by boxes and piles of clothes, but sitting on a made bed so life is not too bad! Although the thought of unpacking is making me want to cry...

If I ever find my camera charger again, I'll take some pics of the new place and post them soon!!!

i feel ya Loggie

Think Logan's frowning cuz those are Mariners PJs? yeah, i'd be trying to get them off too... :)

My worst effing nightmare

While browsing K.Pilk's blog for some weekly words of wisdom (see column to your right), I came across this absolutely horrifying picture. I swear to effing God, if I EVER come across anything like this again I am swearing off swimming altogether. Which is sad, because even though I am terrified of sea creatures, I love to swim. Jesus H Christ.

He also had this to say, which I love: "Fish specialists are saying that Hippos are distant cousins of the whale. They think hippos are the whales that decided not to go in the sea. Hippos are like the fat people you see on holiday who like the idea of water but are too lazy to swim. They tend to just float about." I love this guy.

Campaign '08, week 2

Reason #2 (of about a million) why Cara and/or Tony need to move back...

I miss my dogs. A lot. A LOT.

One more time...

It's closing weekend at Camp Cross, which means I get to go enjoy the beauty of my favorite place on earth one last time this year! It will be DANG COLD but gorgeous, I'm sure. So I'm off to help put away mattresses, clean the kitchen and infirmary, de-mouse the place, and who knows what else! See you Monday!

ideas? anyone? bueller?

I am coming to Seattle in a couple of weeks (Oct 24th to be exact) for my dear friend Bethany's birthday party. Unfortunately, it is a costume party, and I have NO good ideas. So I'm taking suggestions... There may be a prize for the winner... :)

The REAL Campaign 2008

Like my mother, I too am getting involved in the biggest and most important campaign going on this year... guilting Cara and Tony into moving home! Screw Obama and McCain, they've got nothin' on these 2. We miss you guys and plan to harass you into moving back!!! And bring my pups with you!

Reason number 1 to return to Spokane: no more buying plane tickets when you want to see me, or Hads and Mads, or Mariner's games, or the Boys, or mom, or go swimming in a Lake that doesn't have creepy ass fish in it, or you want to go to Quest...

night on the town...

Shockingly, I do occasionally get out of the house to have a bit of fun... last weekend Pia and I along with some friends went downtown to see a comedy show (2 crappy and 3 funny comedians)! I got a couple of pics, nothing too exciting... But we did enjoy some yummy sushi and cocktails first!

Keaton, me and Devin - cute boys and beer, does life get any better?

Pia, Felicia and Tara - lovely ladies enjoy their fancy cocktails

Me and Dev at FarWest crappily playing pool - yes if you look closely I am wearing the cutest hot pink heels ever!!!
