A high-heel loving gal and her trusty sidekick…

Okay, so this will probably ONLY apply to mom, but Ricky Gervais (whom I LOVE) has a blog where-in he tries to annoy Karl Pilkington into doing more podcasts apparently. Awesome. MORE PODCASTS, KARL! MORE MORE! And if you haven't yet, you really should listen to the Ricky Gervais podcasts, they are the greatest thing ever. Ever.

PS, If you want to be convinced of the genius that is K.Pilk without actually going to iTunes - check out this hilarious animation of one of his segments from the podcast called "Monkey News." Monkey News is classic Karl, full of the most outlandishly ridiculous stories ever told on radio. If you don't love this, then I don't want to be your friend anymore.

Thanks Stu!

Hurray for Opening Day! Sara's boyfriend Stuart (who works for the Dodgers) was kind enough to treat us gals to tickets to the game today! It was a beautiful day to watch some baseball - even though we were stuck in the shade where it was a bit chilly! And the Dodgers won handily! Wahoo! Stu even snuck us into some club where we got to hang out for a while until traffic cleared out - oh yeah, and we saw a real celeb! Billy Bob Thornton! Dressed in a leather jacket of course, no lame team hoodie for B-B! ;) Sara claims there will be many more celeb-spotting opportunities once the season gets going, cuz we will get to sneak into the more elite areas... Sara, you know I'm gonna hold you to that! :P

Here are the few pics I took before I lost interest in my camera... None with us in them, of course, but there is one with all the crusty old Dodgers from days of yore... 50th anniversary or something.

Ugliest. Dog. Ever.

This is "Hollywood," a dog I saw on Petfinder - probably the ugliest dog I've EVER seen. Even uglier than Pepe (a dog our grandparents rescued off the streets of LA)...

Maybe he'd grow on you?

Holy shitballs!

Sweet jeebus. I just did my first-ever spinning class! oh my god. I sat next to a super-nice girl who gave me the run-down (who knew there was so much to keep track of? Seat height, pedal straps, etc.) I decide I would "start out slow" so I could get through the whole class without dying... Um, yeah. At about the 35 minute mark I suddenly felt like I may vomit, my face was the color of the red shirt I was wearing, and I was dripping in sweat. So, long story short, I may have rested a bit more than the rest of the class, but I survived at least! And didn't hate it so much I will never do it again! Actually, I'd almost say it was fun! :)

home sweet home

So I've been back in Spokane since early Thursday morning, and it has been a great visit so far! I got home in time to watch the Cougs kick some ass on Thurs, which was great... I've been watching as much basketball as I can stand (which is quite a bit!) and loving it!

This scene to the left is what we woke up to Friday morning - lots and lots of big fat snowflakes! Maybe 2" before all was said and done, but next thing I knew it was about 1pm and all of the snow started melting. Thank goodness, that is definitely the hard part about visiting from LA, in my mind it is already spring and I left 75 degree weather - so was only marginally prepared for the COLD! But, I am glad to be here - I've gotten to spend lots of time sitting around with mom, hanging out a little with Pia (not much, as usual, since she is constantly on the go - by far the busiest person I know), and catching up with friends (mainly of the Camp Staff variety)! Got to meet up with Michelle, Jeff, Colin, Rach and Bryan at the Park Inn (holla!) for dinner last night, and then some of us went out for some more beers after... good times. I think we are meeting for coffee this afternoon, and then hopefully hanging out with the other Spokane staffers for dinner tonight! Funny how I never got sick of these people, after spending night and day with them for 3 months straight (including 99% of our time off)! But they are fun people and they make me laugh.

I think I see now why Cara hasn't been home much since she moved - even though I've only been in LA for 2 1/2 months I've been getting pretty homesick, and coming back here just makes me want to stay! I LOVE Spokane and will end up settled here I'm pretty sure, so I know I'll be back soon, but it's hard to go back to a city that isn't as comfortable. I do like LA quite a lot (much more than I thought I would actually) so I'll enjoy however much time I have left, but think my next assignment - whether that is back at Camp or as a nurse - will be back in the Northwest. I miss the trees and the lakes and the clean air and the short drives and the friendliness of the people and the friends and the family! And, maybe if I can resettle for a while, I can bring the dogs over? Anyways, enough rambling... Just saying that I'm enjoying th ebrief respite from the hubbub of Hell-Ay! :)

Mama I'm coming home!

Look out Spokane, here I come!
Yes, folks, that's right - after only a measly 2 1/2 months away, I missed the cold weather, the rain and my family! So I'm heading to the 'Kan for a few days! I will be heading up Thursday morning (was going to be Friday until I realized I would be stuck on the plane for over half of the Zags game) and coming back to LA on Monday...
I can't wait!

i just can't help it...

I know it's been posted before, but every time I see this picture of Hadley I crack up, so I thought I'd put it up on the bloggy-blog! It just makes me laugh and laugh...
Love that dorky tight little smile and the finger pointing! She looks like a little old (bald) lady!

My favorite time of year...

Yes it's MARCH MADNESS! Woot! I absolutely LOVE watching the NCAA's and this should (hopefully) be a great year for the Zags! And, of course, the Cougs, who get 2nd place in my heart.

The 7th-seed Zags are playing Davidson, which should be a tough match-up and a great game - the Zags are finally healthy and we actually got to see Josh Heytvelt play well in the WCC tourney for what felt like the 1st time all season. They play Friday, when I stupidly scheduled myself to fly up to Spokane - so for now I'm praying like HELL that they land a late game so I don't miss any of it!!!

The Cougs are a 4 seed(!) which is awesome, and should have a bit easier time getting out of the first round, with a game against Winthrop.

Let the Madness begin, should be a fun few weeks! GO ZAGS!!!!!!!

I hate to say it but...

Told ya so! ;) This is from

Report: UCLA Firing Hospital Workers for Snooping on Britney

UCLA Medical Center will be firing at least 13 employees and is disciplining others, including physicians, for looking at Britney Spears's medical files, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Spears, 26, was involuntary hospitalized at the campus's psych ward for one week beginning Jan. 31, after her doctor made the request.

But the records reviewed by those who are targeted for dismissal were from previous hospitalizations at UCLA, the Times reports. The dates and purposes of those hospitalizations weren't known.

UCLA officials declined to comment on the reported firings, but said in a statement: "UCLA Health System considers patient confidentiality a critical part of our mission of teaching, research and patient care. ... We have stringent policies to protect patient confidentiality and address violations of those policies."

wow time flies!

Hard to believe it, but our little Hadley Jane is 1 year old! I can't believe how long she's been around, feels like just a few weeks!
Hadley was the cutest, tiniest little thing - all skinny arms and legs!

But she rocked the ducky suit like no one else ever could!

And thankfully she has filled out a bit, now she's all cheeks and belly! And we love her for it!

so fun!

I have been meaning to rent a beach cruiser and ride around Venice for AGES now, and today I finally did! It was sooo fun. For only $5, I got to rent a super-cute bike, and ended up riding around for about an hour just people-watching and sight-seeing - ended up going from the Venice Boardwalk by my house down past Santa Monica. The weather was beautiful, and this is definitely one of my favorite LA things I've done so far! Highly recommended for any visitors...

more adventures with Sara & Katie

Yes, I have another ridiculous story courtesy of hanging out with Sara...

So last night we made plans to go get some dinner, as I have been jones-ing for a Margarita. So I agree to pick Miss Sara up from Stu's loft and drive to dinner. I am almost there, have just called Sara to come meet me downstairs, when I notice flashing police lights just up ahead. (Mind you, we are in downtown LA, so not a huge shocker.) I am motioned by a cop to slow down, which I do, and notice a huge crowd gathered around police tape on my left. I of course have to get a better look, and notice that there is a display window broken out and a female BODY in the window!!! I am a wee bit shocked (not enough to turn around and gawk again, but enough to tell Sara about it...). I did notice a few cameras just after, but couldn't decide if they were news cameras covering a murder or if it was some movie shooting (this being LA and all). But the cops seemed pretty real, so I just decided it was a murder.

Well, when Sara got in the car, I immediately had to tell her "there was a dead body on 6th... or a movie, I can't tell." She grilled me a little bit, it seemed authentic to her too, and she immediately got on her Blackberry to try to find out any news... No luck, so we just went to dinner and forgot about it.

On the way back to Stu's, I decide we need to further investigate this "murder"... The more I am thinking about it, the less real it seems. So we drive back by, where Eagle-Eye Sara notes that the cop cars say NYPD - darn it, just a filming, not real. It turned out to be CSI:New York filming... So we decide to go park by Stu's and walk back to be looky-loo's - they wouldn't let us get close, darn it, but I was able to spot Melina Kanakaredes (I knew who she was but had to look up her name, so not THAT exciting). Here is the sad picture we got of our first "murder scene!" I also am including a video where you can spot Melina if you look really hard (it's pretty blurry, but her hair is light brown and big and she's at the back of the scene...)

best site ever!

Courtesy of Sara and Stu, I present the greatest blog ever (well, top 10 at least)!!!

Stuff White People Like

Fucking hilarious.

yeah Christian!

Christian Won! I am so glad our tiny little elf pulled it out! I was nervous that everything would look the same, but in the end was pretty impressed - the guy is way too talented for his own good! :) Plus, Heidi called him "Uber-Fierce" which is probably the greatest thing I've ever heard (I'm a big fan of the word "uber" if you didn't know...)

Loving It...

So I thought I'd share my latest musical obsession, since I have nothing else exciting to blog about! This is Vampire Weekend, the greatest group I have heard in a long time...

Their music is peppy, a little bit reggae-ish mixed with maybe some british-pop sound, it's hard to describe. Very upbeat and great lyrics.

So far, VW has inspired my whilst cleaning the apartment, working out, and rocking out in my car! Check them out! :)

Cute cousins!

I just saw these pics on the Fancy Narode page, and had to steal them! I love these gals!

I love the fact that Hadley looks like a giant next to 4 month older Logan! Plus Loggie is so scrappy/presh in this pic with her sweaty head and TNS smile/wink! Of course, Hads is pretty cute herself...

Tate is very "It's my party and I'm soooo over it" here. Of course she is be-decked in all her fanciest things - hair clips, party dress, tattoos on the arms... Love it!
