Mom (and other shoelace-tying tards), you have to check out this site! It is awesome!

I am for sure staying in LA through April (until May 9th) for now... Which is great! Cedars offered me a 15(!) week extension, but I already put in my Camp application so until I hear back from them I decided to just go with 5 weeks! So plan your trips, the weather is AMAZING here right now! Hurray! And, assuming that my recruiter gives me a good stipend, I'll probably be sub-letting Sara's studio apartment which will be closer to work...

My bad...

Because I missed it, here's a Super-Duper Happy Birthday to 2 of my favorite girls! Miss Tatum Narode turned 5 (a whole hand!) and her amazing mom is a bit older as well (a girl never tells...)! I love you both, you always make me smile and both give the best hugs in the world!!!

Can't forget the most important one...

It's a day early, but I didn't want her to feel left out! Tomorrow (Feb 27th) my big sister Pia celebrates being another year older and wiser! Woot!

Happy birthday Peeps! I love you so much! And you're the only girl I know who would wear a snake around her neck....
Dive into a plate of powdered sugar and totally gets what I love about Camp...

And is goofy enough to decorate shirts and sit in the nosebleeds with me for a brief shot at spotting Becks!

Thanks for being such an amazing, wonderful, sometimes irritating sister! I love ya!

Here come the Birthdays!

It's officially the start of "Birthday Season"!!! Hooray!

First up is Cousin Kip, who turns "30-something" today! Happy birthday Kipper, I know you had an amazing year last year with the arrival of beautiful Madeline, here's wishing you an ever better year this year!

Next comes Cousin Meg, who turns 29 on Thursday! You've also had a big year, and brought such joy to all our lives because we've been able to watch you raise the amazing Hadley Jane! Happy Birthday!

Last, but not least, comes Cousin Sarah - who (and I can't believe it) turns 19 in about a week and is now legal to drink in her home country of Canada! Yikes, how'd you get so old?!! You are such a beautiful girl, too bad you are so far away for college!

Gorgeous Day (finally)!

It is so incredibly nice out (for the first time in about a month - I swear it's been feeling like I never left Seattle) that I just had to get outside today! After a nice long power-walk around the Marina, I decided to go back home to grab my camera and head over to Venice Beach for some people-watching and to take some "artsy" pics! Here are some of the results...

Somehow (and I kind of demand a recount or tie-breaker or something) but Pia and I tied in the Oscar pool! I'm a wee bit (okay, a lot) annoyed about having to share my crown. But actually, I made an incredible comeback - at one point, uncomfortably close to the end, Pia was ahead by 3, so I was thrilled with the win! This is the first year that the pool hasn't offered a tie-break question, so there is an asterisk by this victory...

Here is a pic of my favorite dress from the night, worn by uber-model Heidi Klum! :) I love this dress!

And thanks, mom, for IM'ing with me through the show! It definitely made an otherwise VERY boring show much funner and funnier! We are so much better than Jon Stewart...

Woot Woot!

I passed! I took my OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) test today! It was actually pretty nerve-wracking, I didn't feel great about it during the test, but thank god for immediate results! :) Now lets hope it comes with a pay raise!

Tell me how you feel...

Check out the new poll on the side of the page! My contract here in LA ends April 4th! (man, time flies!) I have requested an extension but haven't heard anything yet; I am also applying for the Program Director job at Camp Cross, but don't know if that'll happen or not. So I am once again unsure of what to do and am taking suggestions! And if you have any ideas, feel free to let me know! :)

Project Runway! Love it!

Oh my gosh, I am so loving this season of "Project Runway"!!! And I finally got to watch the reunion show this morning, as I was working when it aired - thank you Tivo. I just thought it was histerical... Plus I was excited that Christian won the "fan favorite" (even though I was pulling for Papa Bear Chris) because he has totally owned this season! So here are a few random thoughts... Oh and Carmen? Or whatever your name is who I kinda forgot about but you made a totally heinous Members Only jacket and no shirt for Tiki Barber? Get over yourself, you don't need to cry because Heidi called you out on that hideous outfit...

Okay, I LOVE Tim Gunn. He is the whole reason to watch PR! And I only just discovered that he has a blog (actually so do Nina and Michael Kors) - it is so totally Timmy, filled with words no one understands. Tim's Blog is here and it is awesome.

Okay, Victorya? You are a heinous beyotch. You didn't even try to hide it one teeny tiny little bit. Dude, Heidi Klum asked if you were really so uptight, and Tim said "yes." Take a hint, or a chill pill, or that stick out of your ass.
Okay Jack. Jack, Jack, Jack. You could be SOOOO cute. You are from Seattle, you are funny and have a great body. But you should've laid off the plastic surgery about 4 nose jobs ago. The videos of your MRSA face only served to heighten the odd Whoville-ian look you have going on. You can't really see it in this picture, but Jack has had one too many nose jobs or lip injections or something...

Okay, Rami and Chris (aka Papa Bear)? I love you guys. Rami seemed so much nicer (thank god) than he was on the show. And, was it just me, or is there a little something going on here? (actually I know it wasn't just me, cuz Trent thought so too.) I hope so - maybe you 2 would be good for eachother, even though the Ram-ster is about 8 light years out of Papa's league. Chris could lighten Rami up a little bit, and Rami could continue to tickle Papa and make him do his histerical laugh (um, what was that all about, anyways?)!!!

Okay, that's all... I can't wait for next week and the Rami-vs-Chris battle royale - maybe we'll get to the bottom of this mystery! By the way, I just noticed I started every paragraph with the word "okay" but thought it was funny and decided to leave it that way! ;)

Yay Oscars

I just want to say how excited I am for the Oscars on Sunday! Normally I watch most of the major awards shows, if only so I can see the pretty dresses, but this season has been sadly lacking. So I'm hoping that the Oscars will be especially good to make up for it!!! Not to mention, I have to redeem myself in the annual PLACK family Oscar pool (since I believe that Lavs somehow pulled off the upset last year)!!!

Surprisingly, I actually have seen all of the Best Picture nominees this year - and other than "Michael Clayton" (which I still don't really get what all the fuss is about, it wasn't that great, and "Jesse James" was way better) they are all awesome movies! I think that "There Will Be Blood" is one you should all see, simply for Daniel Day-Lewis' performance, it was really impressive. But by far, IMHO, the best of the crop was "No Country For Old Men" - even though it was incredibly violent and extremely strange, it was just a beautifully-made movie and stayed with me for a long time after I saw it. "Juno" is probably the movie that appeals to the most people though, and it was so funny and sweet, definitely one I will buy when it comes out on DVD (or steal from Sara who already has a copy from "someone who knows someone who gets to vote on them" or something)....

Anyways, look for my victory posting when I clean up on Sunday! ;)

LOVE it!

Get a load of Tatum in her latest fashion creation! This girl definitely has a one-of-a-kind style!

'Bout time...

Pia has finally decided to change her blog over from being a boring (j/k) and rarely-updated one about her Benin trip to a more exciting one about her everyday life! So ch-ch-check it out, and expect to be greeted with a lot of stories about High School basketball and/or tennis, crappy books she's reading "for her classroom" (yeah right), and the man I KNOW she's gonna meet this year so she can start making me some nieces and nephews!
Just go to to learn all about her exciting life! Love ya Peeps!

The stupid Writer's Strike officially ends today! Which means we'll soon (hopefully) have new episodes of "The Office"!!!! My day suddenly got a lot better! :)

p.s. marry me, John Krasinski?

For Susna...

Okay, since a call went out for new blog posts, here you go! I really have nothing exciting to say - I just got off a long (well, 4 shifts) night stretch and go back to days tomorrow, so I haven't been doing anything exciting... But here's what I've been up to:

1) Made an appointment today for getting my taxes done - I've never paid someone before, as I'm a big fan of TurboTax, but with all of my work travelling it is just too confusing now! Boo! Also, the accountant says that normally new client appointments are 1/2 hour, but since I'm a travel nurse she'll need an hour and a half! Yikes!

2) I downloaded a bunch of new music on iTunes - mainly the 25th anniversary (!) "Thriller" album and a bunch of random live John Mayer stuff (who I'm totally obsessed with right now and listen to nonstop).

3) I FINALLY (knock on wood) got my wireless connection working - I had to reorder internet which got hooked up last week, but for some reason could not connect wirelessly with my new router - I don't really know what I did, but tried a few tricks today and it seems to be working well now... thank god! I can't live without internet, and it has got to be wireless so I can roam around the apt with my laptop. ;)

3) I finally got to watch the rest of season 1 of "The Tudors"! I had been watching back when I was in Virginia, but then moved to summer camp and obviously didn't have Shotime - and it finally arrived at Blockbuster last week. This is a great show, totally trashy but slightly historical, and I loved it! Can't wait for season 2!

4) I finished the "Golden Compass" books - they were good, but not nearly as engrossing as "Twilight" LOL! Overall I liked the trilogy, it was pretty interesting. Maybe a bit to "YA" for me though?

And that, folks, is about it! Right now I'm waiting to hear from Sara - maybe going to see "27 Dresses" tonight - we have been talking about seeing it since it came out, so this may be the night! LOL. Other than that, I'm working on making some decisions about whether to extend my contract here in LA or not... I'm leaning towards staying for an extra 3 months at this point, but we'll see...
And here are some pics of Lola and Wally because I have been missing them so so so much this week! I love these doggies so much, I can't wait until I get to be with them again!!!

Whoa, What?!?!

I just read that the Mariners actually signed a good pitcher! What?!!! That means, god forbid, we may actually pull ourselves out of the basement this year?

Courtesy of MSN: "The 28-year-old Eric Bedard becomes the staff ace for a perceived contender. He will lead a staff consisting of 21-year-old Felix Hernandez, veteran holdovers Miguel Batista and Jarrod Washburn, and recently signed free agent Carlos Silva."

Sara and I went to see "Wicked" last night, which was just great - really funny! Although the evening was a bit Bad-News-Bears...

It started out with me miscalculating LA traffic at 5pm on a weeknight... I was supposed to pick Sara up at 6 for a 6:30 dinner reservation in Hollywood. Well, I didn't actually make it to her house until about 6:40 - oops! My bad! Then we "raced" to the restaurant, aka sat in more traffic. We got a parking spot around 7:15, and decided to pick up our tix from will call. Right then, Sara goes "gosh, I hope I got the date right." I'm all, ha ha very funny. Then the will call guy informs us that our tix were for the night before!!! Oh jeez. Thankfully he was able to exchange them without problem. By now it's 7:30, and the show is supposed to start at 8 - and we are both starving. Our reservation is long gone, but we walk over to the restaurant (Katsuya which is amazing) and ask if they can squeeze us in - thankfully they did, and we were able to order in record time and stuff our faces before running back across the street to the show!!! The sushi was sooooo good that we have already decided we'll have to go back when we have a bit more time! :) So we were the last ones into the theater and literally sat down as the music started. But it was well worth it, and a super fun evening overall!

Also, I think this is the first picture I have gotten of Sara and I since high school prom? :) I added one of me in my killer boots - I hadn't worn them yet, so was nervous about them hurting and brought back up shoes just in case! But, once my big toes accepted the fact that they weren't moving left or right for the night, they were pretty good! :)

Finished project!

Here is the "Scrap Noodle" blanket I finally finished - well, actually more gave up on and just quit knitting, it turned out a bit more narrow than I would have liked, but I've got more than enough yarn to do another! :) It is very soft!

so presh...

I am so happy to see that Miss Loggie is able to fit into and wear the outfit I got her for her b-day! It is a 6-12 months, and even though she is super-tiny, I was a little nervous about it! But clearly it fits and goes great with the tights! This girl was made for a beautiful brown dress...

So, I don't know why, but I got totally obsessed with this book "Twilight" over my break. I had stalkerishly read about it on Joc's blog, and grabbed it at Barnes when I was bored. I finished it by the next morning (as in, had to force myself to put it down and go to sleep!)... And immediately went out to buy the next 2 books in the series, which I finished as well!

The books are ridiculous, something I would imagine Pia has read, but so great! They are about a girl who falls in love with a vampire and are set in Forks, WA. Random. Anyways, if you are bored, these are great! And a 4th one is apparently coming out this summer or fall... :)

back to the grindstone

After a lovely 6 (!) days off, I am back to work - my first night shift at the cancer center. So far, I have been lucky enough to have been working days (10 am - 10pm) which has been great and I have learned a TON already, but I'm excited to be on a bit slower-paced shift for a couple of weeks. I will be trading days and nights with the other Traveller, so it will be nice to be able to do a bit of both.

I had a nice break though, I must say - I finished a knitting project (the 'scrap noodle' blanket - i'll post pics next week, but if I do that one again I'll make it a bit bigger and with more of a pattern), I read 3 1/2 books, went to Malibu for lunch one day, ate Pinkberry a couple of times, slept in a lot, saw "There Will Be Blood" (which was amazing), and tried unsuccessfully to get my g-d internet working! I am sooo pissed at Verizon right now, because now I can't Tivo LOST! Arrgghh! Anyways, that's pretty much all I've been up to - although I'm super excited for next week, when Sara and I are going to see "Wicked"!!!
