Happy birthday Pops!

55 years ago today, the man I would call my father was born. (wow, that was dramatic. whatever.) Anyways, today is the day - well, here on the west coast; back in VA it is probably tomorrow already. Daddy, even though you live way across the country and we don't get to see eachother or talk as much as I'd like, I love you so much! We are way too similar and bicker like an old married couple, but I am and always was a daddy's girl. I am still so very proud of you for being brave enough to pick up your entire life, sell your beloved business, and move all the way across the country - now you get to play with guns, meet incredibly random celebrities, drive cars around tracks, build bombs, shoot at the enemy, and basically live every boy's fantasy every day! I hope the next 55 are filled with many more adventures!

celebrating!

Yesterday, my wonderful friend Trent married his gorgeous lady Marci! Pia, Tara, our friend David and I all got to go witness the very beautiful and personal ceremony...

The couple leaving after a fun party... The sparklers were pretty, but kinda started burning my hand by the time they got there LOL

Of course, it's not a fun night for me without some adorable shoes! These are my new faves...

sweet jebus...

Would you EVER let your child get on this ride? God, I hope not. How horrifying.

Birthday celebrating

Continuing the tradition (started last year) of going out for sushi for my b-day, I gathered the troops and headed out on Sat evening. Dinner was delish, and followed by a brief stop at The Elk (the bar down the street from our apt) and ended with the gang playing Wii and drinking and then passing out at our place. Overall a delightful evening (other than the puke that ended up on the couch - not by me thankfully)! ;)

Survived! (Barely.)

Well, we somehow survived Bloomsday. We ended up skipping the starting line chaos, and jumped in at Browne's Addition instead (such a great call)... We managed to stay together, the weather was perfect - slightly overcast and cool - and a sort-of fun time was had by all. I am now realizing how out of shape i am, as i am super sore already, but at least we got some decent pics along the way!

Behold the super-incredible rat tail we saw:

Lavs and I with the famous Bloomsday Buzzard atop Doomsday Hill:

almost to Doomsday:

All of us pausing as we neared the finish line to get one last picture (not sure why Peeps is making that face):

Bloomsday here we come...

Ugh, somehow I got roped/guilt-tripped into doing Bloomsday tomorrow. (For those of you unfamiliar, Bloomsday is one of the largest road-races in the world or something - 7 1/2 miles of wall-to-wall people basically.) Pia, mom and I are planning to set a leisurely pace and try to avoid getting clipped by strollers as we take a lap around Spokane. Although Pia is planning to brave the hideousness that is the starting line melee, Lavs and I plan to hop onto the course just outside my apartment door once Pia passes by... thereby avoiding about 2 hours of standing around and merging 50,000+ people in a block-wide area.

Although I'm still kinda praying for rain so I can back out... but maybe it'll be fun. We'll see.
