An update!

Its almost Christmas! How did that happen?!?!

What we've been up to:

- doing the TQI diet, which I am loving and have very few plans at the moment to add much back right away... Maybe honey, and the occasional cheese treat, and pork. Hoping to mostly stick to a paleo-type way of eating.

- present making and buying. This is done, for the most part. House is decorated to the nines.
(Above painting is my attempt to recreate one I saw on Pinterest. Turned out pretty cute I think.)

- hat making! Seems to be my go-to. Made cute hats for babies Sienna and Jack. Here is Jack modeling his:
The super cute model helps!

- work, work, work. I am waiting to hear word on if I'll be transferring out if chemo to work as a primary nurse with one of our docs... I'm ready for a change of pace, hopefully a little less daily stress, and a chance to learn some new stuff on my way to become a nurse practitioner (still part of the 5 year plan)...

Dog Love

I saw this quote on Facebook today… love it:

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
~unknown

We've owned and loved some pretty amazing dogs

Bonnie was the first (and world's best dog, for reals).  My favorite memory of Bonnie was that she ALWAYS somehow got out (or we let her run the neighborhood more likely) and she would follow me and Tony to school at Hutton. In my head, this happened pretty regularly (but may have actually only happened once or twice). She found us on Whidbey Island, and we could not go home without her.  Sadly, I have no pics of her. But she was a great big beautiful yellow lab mutt.

Next came Bear. Goosy Girl. The cutest fluff ball white puppy you've ever seen. Sadly, the memory that no one will ever let me live down… One time, I accidentally pushed her off the bed, and she hurt her knee and had to wear this sad little cast for a while. I still feel terrible about that. Thankfully, she was fine and all was forgiven.

Bear needed a friend, so Murphy Boy was the next to come along. Smurphles.  Murph.  A little neurotic, very protective of his family, and the sweetest most snuggly little guy you've ever seen.  That face. He had a rough last few years, with many trips to the vet, but he never whined or complained. So sweet (unless he decided he didn't like you).

Soon, we left the nest, and decided we needed more dogs.

Cara, Tony and I were living together briefly while Tone and I were in college.  A quick trip to the pound later, we came home with brother and sister Walter and Lois.  (Tony tried valiantly to argue that we shouldn't leave the third sibling behind at the Humane Society. Thankfully, he lost that fight and we only ended up with 2 twin terrors.)

Lola. Sissy girl. We are all still devastated by her sudden loss just a year ago.  She was the sweetest dog. And the biggest rascal. Famous for stealing sticks of butter or whole steaks from the kitchen counter (seriously couldn't turn your back for a second), and she could open a Starbucks mocha cup and finish it off without spilling a drop anywhere. She loved sleeping in secret corners and hiding places.  She is missed every day.

Her bro, Walt. T-Bone. Bon Bon. Sir. Bubba.  He is now a pretty crabby old man. Hates that damn baby Colie. And his reluctantly adopted cousin Lucy.  But he's just Carl. (Because he has the same 'tude as Carl, the old man from 'Up'.)  We love him so much.  He's old, fat, and SO darn sweet.  And has a true passion for human food.

And then there's Lucy. Lulu. LuBug. LB. She's weird. Really weird. But probably the sweetest girl ever. (I think I've said that about all the dogs so far…) She freaking loves her mom. So much, it's probably not healthy for either of us. She isn't allowed human food, which according to Tony has made her a bit neurotic. She loves veggies. And her Bubba (even if it's unrequited). But mostly just her mom.

Keep on truckin'

The projects never end around here! Here is the newest door (right side up this time thankfully) covering the horrible laundry room!  SUCH and improvement.

In case you forgot, here is what that room used to look like (door on the left)

Fun with baby

We are watching Colie a lot these days which is fun... Other than all she wants to do is steal our phones! :)

Sunday Funday!

We finally decided to get out of the house yesterday! It was a lovely day spent lounging on the dock at Hayden! Wally's first time!

Whew! The last few weeks have flown by!  Here are some things we've done at the house... And yea we got moved in too!

The kitchen (blurry)

Refinished the stairs (just need one last riser)

Dining room (still needs a rug)

And that's basically all the pics I have! Oops!

REAL before and after post will come soonish, I promise!

Here's a parting shot of Lulu at the lake, where we went for the first time all summer yesterday!

An after!

Moving day is FAST approaching! Like, too fast.

But we have one room done at least. :)

Actually we just have a million tiny annoying awful jobs left.

But here is the before and after of the living room. Loving it.

Kitchen

It's SO close to complete! Just need to finish grouting the backsplash (sorry for the dark pics) and get trim done in floor and around door, and figure out a new cupboard or shelf for over the fridge!

One week to go!

Take 2

We decided the light green door just wasn't quite right... LOVING the purple though!  Just what this little house needed!

2 steps forward...

3 steps back?

Feels like we run into one hurdle after another!

But, things are moving along. Mostly.

the fridge doesn't fit, the carpet is coming a week early (which is better than the 2 weeks late they told me originally), the appliance delivery did NOT include install so they are sitting in the dining room, etc etc.

Oh well. Here are some pics!

And here's one of Lulu the poor neglected pup. Who HATES the new floors. Too bad so sad.

Progress!

It hasn't felt like it, but we are slowly but surely making progress on the house... Currently wrapping up a 10 hour day, where we got LR ceilings sanded, spackled, primered; drywall up in the 2 basements rooms and ready for mudding; lights up in dining room and kitchen; a bit of paint up in kitchen (including ceilings done); a trip to Lowes... Hopefully tomorrow will be as productive!
